1. Seismic reinforcement of the structure. 2. Reconfiguration of the locker room and restroom facilities to comply with current ADA Accessibility standards and equity considerations, and meet the actual needs of the community and the educational offerings of the facility including more convenient, gender-neutral, and family friendly restroom and locker room options to support physical fitness and wellness. 3. Redesign of learning spaces including the consolidation of high-exposure learning areas to create the effect of “immersion” in health, fitness education, and wellness courses (classrooms, health labs, fitness/wellness activity, and community spaces). This will create multifunctional spaces that can be used for both classroom and community events, including First Aid, safety, exercise science, and sports medicine training labs. Common spaces will be improved and expanded for academic classrooms, community gatherings, meetings, and workshops. 4. Layout reconfiguration to achieve a funneled entry for more effective entry control, electronic access control with emergency lock-down ability, and security camera monitoring of facility activities. 5. Full redesign and upgrade of the roof mounted HVAC units and associated controls, and upgrade of the ductwork distribution within the areas where the existing ceilings will be modified or space types changed. 6. Energy efficiency improvements such as increased building insulation, LED lighting, window replacements, and an advanced HVAC and HVAC-control system. Previous energy related improvements have revealed that this heavily used, seven-day per week facility offers quick payback. 7. Repair and preservation of the exterior brick system. 8. Gym improvements for safety and community use which may include flooring, bleachers, ADA accommodations, lighting, and a public address system. 9. Improvements that facilitate future use of the building as an emergency shelter, including security and ventilation. 10. Reconstruction of the existing parking lot and sidewalks to provide an accessible route that meets ADA standards. 11. *Expanded parking lot with raised crosswalks for safe passage to the Athletics Complex. 12. *Restoration or reconstruction of existing athletic fields which may include artificial turf. 13. *Restoration or reconstruction of outdoor courts including basketball and tennis. 14. *Addition of pickleball courts and outdoor restrooms for community use. 15. *Possible addition of a training field, and/or an auxiliary gym, to be used while competitive events take place in the existing gym or on the existing fields.
