2.1.1. PHASE 1: Demolition Objective: • Remove and dispose of the existing boardwalk structure. Tasks: • Demolish the existing boardwalk. • Transport and haul debris to designated disposal areas on either side of the boardwalk. • FFS will ensure that all debris is removed from the designated areas and properly disposed. 2.1.2. PHASE 2: Construction of Boardwalk Objective: • Construct a new boardwalk measuring 5 feet by 605 feet. Specifications: • Piles: Use 10-inch diameter treated wood piles with .80 CCA (chromated copper arsenate) treatment, of various lengths, spaced 10 feet on center. • Headers: Install 8x8-inch rough-sawn headers. • Stringers: Install 3x12-inch rough-sawn stringers, spaced 24 inches on center. • Decking: Apply 2x8-inch pressure-treated lumber decking, secured with stainless steel screws. • Additional Hardware: Include MSTA flat straps and hurricane straps for added stability. 2.1.3. PHASE 3: Handrail Installation Objective: • Install a handrail system along the boardwalk. Specifications: • Posts: Use 4x6-inch rough-sawn posts, spaced 5 feet on center. • Handrail: Construct handrail with three runs of 2x6-inch pressure-treated lumber. • Top Cap: Install a top cap using 2x8-inch pressure-treated lumber. • Hardware: Use hot-dip galvanized (HDG) hardware for all connections.
