The management of agricultural lands on Wildlife Management Area (WMA) properties requires the timely coordination of many individual practices annually. The requested lime / fertilizer spreaders are required so that the addition of these soil improvement materials may be completed accurately, and on the correct annual schedule, which may be dependent upon seasonal changes in weather conditions. Without these implements, the Wildlife and Heritage Service is forced to compete with larger, commercial farming operations for the rental / borrowing of a limited number of spreaders available locally, sometimes must return them before our work is completed, or forced into delays which affect the timing and success of the habitat initiatives being undertaken.
