The Glendale Regional Public Safety Training Center (GRPSTC) is a state-of-the-art public safety training facility located at 115th and Glendale Avenues. The GRPSTC has a unique partnership with several west side cities and the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD). The GRPSTC opened in April 2007 and includes a full range of facilities needed to train new firefighters and police officers and fine-tune the skills of veteran fire and police officers. The next phase of development for the GRPSTC facility is a new Marking Cartridge Training Structure. This facility will be designed for force-on-force tactical training and big box style warehouse training for our public safety first responders. The new Marking Cartridge Training Structure is programmed to be a 15,000 SF facility that will provide the ability to conduct various realistic close-range combat training environments for Patrol, SWAT, K9 and other public safety agencies. The facility will include low light simulation, building clearing, active shooter response, barricaded subjects, high risk vehicle stops and many other scenarios. The current plan is to construct the building utilizing a pre-engineered metal building system (PEMB) with high bay volume on the interior of the main training area to accommodate reconfigurable metal partitions with overhead observation catwalks.
