Carson City will be using SS4A Grant funding to update the Plan in the following ways listed below. Incorporate Carson High School and Pioneer High School into the plan. All other schools in Carson City will remain without change. Incorporate schools located in the Stewart Community of the Washoe Tribe. Located at the south side of Carson City, this community was established in 1890, has 2,960 acres, with 90 members. They have the Stewart Community Center. Their five community representatives are chaired by Wanda Batchelor. The school zone within the Stewart Community is located adjacent to the Stewart Community Center and the Stewart HeadStart Washoe Tribe Preschool. Evaluate and incorporate access to school related venues of Carson City frequently used for school events and after-school activities including: o Carson City Community Center (851 E. William Street) o City’s Multipurpose Athletic Center “MAC” (1860 Russell Way) o The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada (1870 Russell Way) o Stewart Community Center (Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California) (465 Clear Creek Ave) o Carson Colony Recreation Department/ After School (Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California) (2900 South Curry Street) o Stewart HeadStart Washoe Tribe Preschool (429 De Lah E Deh) o Carson City Library (900 North Roop St) Gather the latest available safety data related to crashes and incidents in school zones and times. Field data connection may be required including the possible collection of pedestrian and vehicle counts and a review of ingress and egress patterns. Update latest 5 years of crash data for one mile around schools, consistent with the original plan including updating crash data for existing schools in plan and proposed additional schools. Identify sidewalk and curb ramp connections to/from school to residences and bus stops. Identify school-aged children involved in crashes- particularly bicycle and pedestrian. It may also be relevant to note the number of high school age kids that live within the Stewart Community and Carson Colony who may walk or bike to their school. Map crashes and disadvantaged community data within school zones. Before/ After school observations for the added schools and facilities listed above.
