JCCC is seeking a qualified consultant to provide a comprehensive and detailed assessment of JCCC’s dining services operations. The goal is to identify strengths and opportunities for improvement and to develop recommendations to enhance and optimize the overall on-campus dining experience while increasing revenue. Critical areas of focus should include the food/menus, national branded vs. in house concepts, staffing and operations, fixed costs, and financial performance of the current dining services, recommendations on marketing strategy, technology enhancements, and any potential design modifications to the current dining services areas. JCCC’s Dining Services self-performs retail operations in four locations on JCCC’s main campus, provides catering services, and contracts with vending, snack, and drink purveyors (see below) and does not offer meal plans. Retail operations experience ~2,000 transactions per day during the school year and ~800 transactions per day in the summer. During a fiscal year (July 1 to June 30), catering manages ~1,500 events. Dining Services is part of Auxiliary Services division which rolls up to the College’s Administrative Services branch. 1. The Food Court - includes five food concepts (3 national brands), a large salad bar with a fresh fruit display, a hot bar, and desserts. Total Seats - 363 (COM154 = 44 seats, COM155 = 112 seats, COM157 = 142 seats, Java Jazz = 65 seats) 2. Coffee Bars (Stacks, Encore) - coffee bars that feature grab-n-go products and condiment related items. Stacks seats - 27, No seating in Encore 3. Café Tempo (currently closed) - serves upscale fare to Nerman Museum patrons and visitors, as well as an alternative dining location for students and employees. Total Seats - 114 (Inside = 48, Outside = 16, RC Atrium = 50) 4. The Market - includes beverages snacks, select food options, and coffee. Total Seats – 68 (Inside = 40, Outside = 28) 5. Catering - includes a menu that offers refreshment orders, receptions, and meals. 6. Vending - 71 beverage & snack machines located throughout the campus, and at JCCC’s 3 other offsite locations in downtown Overland Park (West Park Shopping Center), OHEC (Olathe Health Education Campus), and Edgerton, KS (CDL Training facility). Vending services are split between 3 vendors: Canteen, Super Dave’s Snack Emporium, and Heartland Coca-Cola.
