The WORK consists of the removal of accumulated debris deposited at the inlet of a historic stone culvert within the Hiawatha coal mine complex in Carbon County, Utah. The culvert has been impacted by high intensity rainfall events in recent years that have deposited a significant amount of woody material/debris resulting in an extensive logjam. The culvert is constructed within the Right Fork of Miller Creek. The culvert is approximately 12 feet wide by 12 feet high and 200 feet long. The logjam is approximately 80 feet wide by 80 feet long with a height of approximately 20 feet. The measured dimensions correspond to a volume of approximately 4,740 cubic yards of material. That volume is an overestimate given that the logjam is not a solid mass of material. Void spaces between the accumulated logs are noticeable throughout the logjam. The sole purpose of the project is to remove the accumulated material at the inlet of the culvert and restore its ability to safely convey streamflow. Details of the WORK are contained in these Specifications. “OWNER” in these Specifications is defined as the Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining.
