Hull: The Contractor shall ensure good alignment of structural members, particularly where such members oppose each other on opposite sides of bulkheads, decks, or tank tops. In such cases, misalignment exceeding half the thickness of the thicker member shall be considered a cause for rejection. Where discontinuities of the structure are unavoidable, suitable brackets or other reinforcement shall be installed. All workmanship entering into the construction of the vessel shall conform to the highest standard of commercial shipbuilding practice and shall result in fair lines and smooth surfaces. Sharp and ragged edges or corners of structure that are unsightly or which could cause injury to personnel shall be removed, ground smooth, or snipped. a. Substitutions of equivalent sections or minor alterations in detail may be considered, provided they do not impair the structure’s efficiency, strength, or appearance. b.
