The Kentucky Community and Technical College System, Office for Facilities Support Services, on behalf of Jefferson Community & Technical College (JCTC) desires to procure professional services (Architect) and an associated project team to accomplish the Replacement of Hartford Tower, Phase II on their main campus in downtown Louisville, Kentucky. This project will provide for Phase II of the replacement of the Hartford Building at Jefferson CTC Downtown Campus. Phase I was the construction of a new Science Building which is currently under construction across the street from the Hartford Building. Based on a feasibility study, it was determined to be more efficient to construct two new facilities to replace the current outdated building. The second phase will demolish the Hartford Building, reconcile the existing utility infrastructure that runs under the tower that serves the main campus and to construct the second replacement building on the tower site to house mathematics classrooms, large lecture rooms, and student services that are being displaced by the demolition of the Hartford Building. There will also be an elevated pedestrian way across South First Street to connect to the Science Building currently under construction on the opposite side of the street. Funding available for this project is currently limited to funding for design of the project through Phase C – Construction Documents. However, it is expected and anticipated that funding will be available immediately following the Design Phases so that construction is planned to begin in sequence without significant pause following design. It is anticipated that the project could be accomplished through several early bidding packages that would demolish the existing tower, reconcile the existing infrastructure and then construct the new classroom building. The splitting of the project into these early bidding packages will be discussed and determined during Phase A design development of the project.
