EEC has identified the following components of this initiative: 1. Provide technical assistance to 14 CPPI leadership teams (composed of district and community-based preschool program leaders) to strengthen their capacity to support a community-wide approach to preschool language and literacy a. Conduct a Preschool Language and Literacy Assessment for each community b. Develop Preschool Language and Literacy Action Plans for each community in collaboration with leadership teams c. Provide job-embedded learning experiences including communities of practice, technical assistance, and/or coaching aligned with the goals of this initiative d. Identify and recruit appropriate participants from the 14 CPPI grantees to participate in an existing Train the Trainers opportunity (stipends provided) 2. Provide training and technical assistance to a maximum of 4 preschool teachers per grantee in each of the designated 14 CPPI grantees (a maximum of 56 educators) a. Participate in Train the Trainers activities for a new Early Language and Literacy Course in February-March 2025 and provide trainings to educators b. Provide job-embedded learning opportunities, including communities of practice, technical assistance, and/or coaching to up to 56 educators enrolled in a new Early Language and Literacy 12-week course in Spring 2025 (including before, during and after the course, as is feasible) c. Develop supplementary materials (e.g., observation guides, checklists) to support educators to implement the evidence-based practices 3. Develop a set of training modules focused on implementation of evidence-based practices for preschool language and literacy utilizing existing EEC and open source resources, as well as other resources aligned with EEC’s approach to preschool language and literacy development and related initiatives a. Training will build on new Spring 2025 Early Language and Literacy (Birth to Five) (course syllabus and materials provided to vendor) b. Learning goals and syllabus to be developed in collaboration with EEC c. Modules to include PowerPoints, supplemental resources to support implementation when delivered to staff, and Train the Trainer materials d. Modules should be differentiated, with opportunities for educators of varied backgrounds to participate
