The Missouri Department of Agriculture (MDA), Animal Health Laboratory desires to acquire the following equipment, including preventative maintenance and calibration, as an addition to and upgrade for current instrumentation. • Two (2) KingFisher Flex 96DW Purification Systems • Two (2) QStudios QS5 0.1ml QPCR Systems with laptop, • Two (2) 7500 FST Realtime PCR systems with Laptop As a Level III National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) member, the MDA Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory is required to utilize specific instrumentation to meet the requirements to maintain their testing approvals. The instruments listed above have been validated and are approved for the testing that they currently perform and for testing they are expecting approval to perform. This specialized equipment must be maintained and calibrated by certified service engineers. The certified service engineer has to renew their certification every two years and each year is required to perform instrument calibrations, verify that the instrument is performing accurate test results, and ensure the required standards set by the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN), National Veterinary Safety Laboratory (NVSL), and the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), are being met. The instruments listed above are proprietary to ThermoFisher Scientific. Life Technologies Corporation is the only organization authorized by ThermoFisher Scientific to provide both the equipment and perform services on the equipment. Services may include technical developments, repairs, equipment updates, preventative maintenance, and annual inspections. As a result, this meets the criteria of a single feasible source under RSMo 34.044, and the state will be pursuing acquisition of the instruments referenced above as a Single Feasible Source. Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification.
