All equipment shall be new, unused, and not refurbished. Equipment shall not be a prototype as far as the general design, operation, and performance. This requirement is NOT meant to preclude bidders from offering new models or configurations which incorporate improvements in a current design or add functionality, but which in such new model or configuration may be new to the marketplace. Quarterly and semi-annual inspections/maintenance for all generators shall include the following. Adjust and clean ignitions components Check oil level in mechanical governors or electronic actuators Lubricate linkages on mechanical governors or electronic actuators Check engine antifreeze solutions; fill to capacity Check all fluid hoses for leaks and pliability Clean sediment in bowl-type fuel strainers Check entire unit for fuel, oil, and antifreeze leakage Adjust all drive belts (fan, alternator, water pump, governor, etc. Clean and refill oil bath type air cleaner; remove dust from dry element types Check engine starter and charging alternator operations Check AC and/or DC brushes, where applicable, for proper setting and wear Check automatic transfer switch for proper voltage at contactor Add water, clean and grease posts on service engine cranking batteries Load test batteries Check battery charger operations, recalibrate Clean collector rings Clean static excitor Check solid state circuits, rotation diodes, and rectifiers Clean normal dust deposits from generator Run a transfer test – under load for 20 minutes – with staff approval to check operations status of instruments Check voltage regulator output; adjust output voltage and frequency Test all safety shut-down devices incorporated on unit such as low oil pressure, high coolant or air temperature, low coolant
