1. Replacement of nearly all the existing windows at the building. New aluminum window units, aluminum storefront windows and glazed aluminum curtainwall window opening assemblies are scheduled for the replacement units. Fixed and operable units will be provided. Due to the presence of contaminants of the existing sealants (PCB) at each existing window, the scope of work includes the removal of a minimum of 8” of surrounding exterior veneer material around each opening. Replacement of removed exterior veneer with new brick, EIFS, precast and concrete parging to generally replicate existing aesthetic is the intent. Additional veneer removal and replacement may be required to facilitate the installation of new veneer construction; as well as additional removal of veneer beyond the 8” minimum may be required if contaminants are found to be present beyond the 8” area. Additional removal due to contaminants is at the direction of Anne Arundel County Public Schools. All replacement windows are to include the removal of any interior window treatments and replacing with new horizontal louver blinds. Alternates are included for both window treatments and areas of the building to be priced separately for the overall window replacement scope of work. 2. See detailed scope of work descriptions on drawings. Scope of work does not include replacement of any exterior doors or door frames. 3. The General Contractor shall include provisions for maintaining egress from the existing work area spaces while work is ongoing. 4. The abatement process of all contaminated materials will be by an abatement contractor as coordinated with Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Information included in the Contract Documents related to contaminated materials was provided by Anne Arundel County Public Schools. The Architect shall not advise on the removal or disposal of contaminated materials for the project.
