3.1. Review Existing Manual: 3.1.1. Conduct a comprehensive review of our current Manual. 3.1.2. Identify gaps, outdated section and areas needing improvement 3.1.3. Identify conflicts, duplications and/or repetition of the other City of Glendale regulations, codes, forms, flowcharts, checklists and standards. 3.1.4. Identify outdated design standards and practices that conflict with current industry practices. 3.2. Develop Updated Standards: 3.2.1. Prepare updated engineering design and construction standards that reflect current best practice, compliance with applicable regulations and integration of new technologies. 3.2.2. Ensure the standards are clear, comprehensive and applicable across all relevant disciplines. 3.2.3. Provide infrastructure requirements that promote a safe, reliable and livable city including any infill/redevelopment recommendations and standards. 3.2.4. Provide for cost-effective construction, while balancing initial cost consideration with long-term maintenance requirements, operability and public safety. 3.2.5. Be compatible with Maricopa Association of Government (MAG) specification and detail, while incorporating City and preferred deviations from MAG specification and details. 3.2.6. Incorporate input from key stakeholders, designers, consultants, contractors, outside agencies and internal departments and divisions. 3.2.7. Prepare updated engineering design and construction standards that reflect current best practices, compliance with applicable regulations and integration of new technologies. 3.2.8. Addition of new standards documentation and design detail drawings. 3.2.9. Develop clear and concise, user-friendly documents that are easy to follow, easy to understand, easy to reference, and easy to use while updating with the City of Glendale logo, per the Glendale Logo and Branding policy. 3.2.10. Provide definitions for types of changes and the steps needed for updating these design and construction standards. 3.3. Department Coordination Meeting(s): 3.3.1. Before commencing any work on updating the standards and after reviewing the existing documents submitted by the City, the consultant shall meet with the specified departments to get an understanding of each department needs. 3.3.1.1. Engineering Department 3.3.1.2. Transportation Department 3.3.1.3. Parks Department 3.3.1.4. Water Department 3.3.2. The consultant will be responsible for scheduling the in person meetings. An allowance of at least 4 days shall be set aside by the consultant to meet with each of the departments referenced above.
