Odometer: 500,000 miles maximum 1.1.2 Engine & Related Components A. Diesel: Premium turbocharged, 4-stroke liquid cooled, inline 6-cylinder only, fully electronic controlled, cast-iron skirt block with replaceable (wet) cylinder inserts. B. Approximate 15-liter displacement. C. Certified power rating minimums: 500 (minimum) advertised horsepower; 1,800 lb/ft (minimum) torque; 800 lb/ft clutch engagement torque. Engine must comply with the latest government emission standards. D. Air cleaner housing with dumper valve and dry type element meeting diesel engine manufacturer’s optimum filtration requirements. E. Magnetic oil drain plug. F. Engine compression brake with selector switch and on/off switch. G. Antifreeze: Extended Life testing to a minimum -34 degrees Fahrenheit. Low coolant warning light and alarm. H. Hose clamps: Constant torque or Perma-Shrink, all coolant hoses. I. Radiator: Largest capacity available for provided engine. If an optional increased cooling capacity option (additional row(s) of tubes/fins) is available, it must be provided. J. Fan: Positive direct drive on-off temperature controlled. Emergency mechanical failure lockup (on) provision. Viscous not acceptable. K. Fan override switch, driver control, allowing driver to lock fan on. L. Engine block heater: 1500-watt minimum, 115/120-VAC, 15-amp plug connector located below driver’s door. N. Throttle/Cruise control: Dash mounted electronic adjustable. O. Engine warning/shut down system: Audible buzzer and lamp warning for high engine temperature and/or low engine oil pressure with automatic engine shut down feature. System must have an emergency override. P. Electronic engine parameters: Maximum vehicle speed top gear, 72-mph; Maximum cruise control speed, 70-mph; Progressive shifting and engine idle shut-down override. Any additional requirements will be determined at time of bid award. Q. Engine must be approved for B20 biodiesel blends. The engine manufacturer must provide explicit written support for the use of B20 biodiesel.
