A. Alignment 1. The Contractor shall properly align the pump to minimize stress, binding, vibration or side loading of the pump shaft. 2. The Contractor shall not change the alignment of the well pump discharge in relation to the discharge piping. B. Parts and Equipment 1. Contractor shall perform all well pump removal work so as to maintain all salvageable and reusable parts and equipment in good condition. 2. Contractor work shall maintain a safe and clean worksite at all times, with the column pipe neatly stacked a maximum of two rows high (if space permits) with the inner column stabbed in the column pipe. The contractor shall number the column lengths in the order that they are pulled out. The openings to the well and discharge system shall be securely covered. 3. When removing submersible pumps, the Contractor shall wind the cable directly onto a spool large enough to hold the entire length of cable. The cable shall be handled so as to prevent damage to the conductors, insulation and jacketing, preserving the cable for reuse. 4. Contractor’s equipment shall be designed and properly maintained for pump removal and installation, and shall have a safe lifting capacity in excess of the load for which it is being used. For example, if requested to pull a pump that had a 600’ setting with 12” column and 1-15/16” x 3” tube and shaft the approximate weight of the equipment to be pulled is 40,000lbs. The contractor would need a rig with a 25 ton capacity to safely pull the equipment. 5. Contractor shall present an annual inspection report if requested by authorized Tucson Water staff. A record of inspection and evidence of correction of all deficiencies shall be with the equipment at all times when in use under this contract. 6. The Contractor shall possess all equipment necessary, including cutting torch and welder, to perform “routine” jobs of this contract. In the event of a “non-routine” job, a collapsed well for example, Tucson Water will, with prior authorization, reimburse the Contractor for rented equipment (jacks, etc.) at cost. 7. The last piece of inner column and shaft will to be cut and threaded for an exact fit. Due to the exactness of measurement and completion, the Contractor’s machine shop will perform this work. 8. Contractor shall provide necessary parts and components such as stretch bearings and stretch nuts for the new pump equipment.
