The College is seeking to renovate approximately 72,000 square feet on the Macon-Bibb campus. There is no new square footage associated with this project. The proposed modernization will be completed in spaces that have been used for heavy industrial training for at least 45 years without major renovation. The roofs and boiler plant were replaced within the past five years. Currently, the lighting is poor, ADA improvements are not complete, and wheelchair ramps are deteriorating. The labs are not consistent with current industry technologies and standards. Additionally, these buildings and labs are inconsistent with the desired “not your daddy’s trade school" image. The project will include asbestos/lead mitigation, installation of anti-microbial HVAC systems, resurfacing of floors, walls, and ceilings. Moreover, the plan will include improvements for student safety features, equipment support infrastructure, security and lighting, drainage, ADA features, restrooms, and energysaving systems.
