1.2.1 The hardwood fuel will be used to provide energy to the boilers at the Missouri Department of Corrections, South Central Correctional Center and Southeast Correctional Center. Therefore, the viability of such provided hardwood fuel is dependent on finding reliable, consistent, and economic sources of hardwood fuel meeting certain specifications for quality. The Missouri Department of Corrections desires to enter into contracts with one or more suppliers with access to the South Central and Southeast Correctional Centers for the collection, processing, and delivery of hardwood waste. The contractor’s provided hardwood fuel must include the following: a. Be clean; b. Homogeneous; c. 100% hardwood residue from known sources; d. Free of foreign materials including, but not limited to, the following: 1) Chemicals; 2) Pressure-treated wood; 3) Creosote wood; 4) Glues; 5) Rocks; 6) Concrete; 7) Stone; 8) Steel; and 9) Nails.
