The MiSeq Next-Generation Sequencer purchased from Illumina in 2016 is a state-of-the-art technology that has revolutionized biological research. It allows researchers to sequence DNA with unprecedented speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness, opening new possibilities for studying genomes and understanding complex biological processes. Despite its incredible potential, the MiSeq sequencer in the Biology department at West Chester University has been unused for over two years following the departure of a professor. However, with proper maintenance, this equipment can continue to be a valuable asset for the department, contributing to research, student learning, and the advancement of science. This initial maintenance will not only restore the MiSeq to working order but also pave the way for its continued use in the years to come, benefiting students, faculty, and the broader scientific community. Because of the proprietary nature of the equipment, Illumina is the only company that can conduct this maintenance. Please note: This is a Sole Source Notification.
