The legacy S70a helicopter will arrive with existing paint. Preparation: All windows, windshields, tires, chrome, latches, antennas, composite parts and other non-painted surfaces will be properly masked and protected. All antennas and sensors are to be protected and airframe bonding maintained per each system’s requirements. Existing paint and primer to be chemically stripped from all metal surfaces, down to bare metal. (Methylene Chloride free stripper will be used in the stripping process). All aluminum surfaces are to be chemically etched and treated with Alodine. Existing paint and primer to be mechanically (sanded) stripped from all composite surfaces. Paint Specifications for Exterior of Helicopter: LACoFD will coordinate with the contractor to ensure the proper paint scheme, labels and logos are provided and available when required during the paint project.
