Inspection Contractor shall conduct a comprehensive inspection of 50 County-owned utility poles at five locations to ensure the utility poles meet federal, state, and local standards. Utility poles consist of wood and composite materials ranging from 10 to 18 inches in diameter and 20 to 40 feet in height. Inspection shall include, but is not limited to: • Observation and inspection of the condition of the utility pole. Contractor shall inspect for vertical straightness, ground footing, surface defects, animal/bird related effects and visual deterioration. • Inspection of the connected utility lines to ensure connections are solid and do not have excess sagging. • Inspection of the condition of the utility pole electrical distribution system, which includes, but is not limited to, the primary, secondary, communication, and public levels of the pole. This includes universal fuse bars, primary and secondary insulators, fuses, open link fuses, transformers, high voltage signs, rack and wires, capacitors, arrestors, PVC risers, ground molding, guy wires, miscellaneous fittings, hardware and crossarm mounting brackets. • Inspection and assurance of proper ground and brush clearance around the base of the utility pole. Clearance around utility pole includes bushes, brush, native and non-native plants, shrubs, weeds, and trees. • Contractor shall coordinate services with County Project Manager or designee within 48 hours of service. At the conclusion of the inspection the contractor shall produce a detailed inspection report containing, but not limited to: • Current pole condition and inspection results for each utility pole. • Potential structural issues or hazards that could lead to a failure of the utility pole and its attached components.
