The purpose and goal of the Minneapolis Police Chaplain Corps is to provide a core group of recognized leaders in Religious Communities, from a variety of faiths, who provide their time and service to the City of Minneapolis as Police Chaplains. The program creates a partnership with the Chaplains and the Community. The Police Chaplain will seek to lighten the burden of the officers by performing tasks that have a greater spiritual and social nature, rather than law enforcement nature, in support of officers while they perform their law enforcement duties. Police Chaplains will be asked to commit to one year of service to the Police Department and will receive a payment of $1,000.00 per month for services provided. Chaplains will receive a Police Chaplain Uniform, allowing immediate identification by the community. There will be two to three Chaplains in each of the five police precincts.
