TRAFFIC SIGNS: MATERIAL: All finished signs and related materials shall be of retro-reflective sheeting conforming to ASTM types designated. Type IX reflective sheeting shall consist of un-metallized micro-prismatic lens elements formed in a synthetic resin and encapsulated by a flexible, transparent, weatherproof plastic having a smooth outer surface. All sheeting shall be weather resistant and shall have a protected precoated adhesive backing. All sheeting shall be type IX. Manufacturer, trade name, and part number of sheeting proposed shall be noted in bid submittal where indicated. All fabrication of completed signs as to reflectivity, layout, color, letter size, dimensions, mounting hole diameter, spacing, etc., shall be in accordance with the Ada County Highway District standards and with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices. All traffic signs and sign blanks shall be made from .080-inch or .100-inch think aluminum with radius corners as indicated on the bid proposal. All signs and sign faces shall be manufactured with durable sheeting and inks to withstand cleansing without fading when using an aromatic, aliphatic, chlorinated hydrocarbon base vandal mark remover. Blank shall be the background color only. All other signs shall conform to MUTCD standards or ACHD special specifications. TRAFFIC SIGN POSTS AND BASES: MATERIAL: Steel post material shall conform to the standard specifications for cold rolled carbon sheet steel, commercial quality, American Society for Testing and Materials Standards (ASTM) A-446. FINISH: The manufactured posts shall be straight, and shall have smooth and uniform finishes. The square tubes shall be manufactured from hot dipped galvanized steel with one and a quarter (1.25) ounces coating conforming to ASTM A-525, also referred to as G-90. Both interior and exterior of the tubing shall be galvanized. All corner welds shall be zinc coated after scarfing operations. TORSION RESISTANCE: Supports shall be of sufficient size to support the sign panel. Signs on single supports shall resist the effect of eccentric wind force. A support member ten (10) feet long shall not rotate more than two (2) degrees when test loaded with fifty (50) foot-pounds or 600 inch pounds of torque on one end while the other end is firmly held against rotation. TELESCOPING PROPERITIES: It shall be possible to telescope all consecutive sizes of square tubing freely and for not less than ten (10) feet of their length without the necessity of matching any particular face to any other face, all holes and ends shall be free from burrs and ends shall be cut square. PRODUCT PROPERITIES: SIGN POSTS (UPRIGHTS) 1 Wall Thickness Fourteen (14) Gauge. 2 Outside Diameter Two (2) Inch x Two (2) Inch. 3 Hole Perforations Each Perforation shall be Seven Sixteenth (7/16) Inch Diameter set on One (1) Inch Centers a4 Weight Approximately Two (2) Pounds per Foot. 5 Length As Specified on Bid Proposal. ANCHOR MATERIAL (BASES) 1 Wall Thickness Twelve (12) Gauge. 2 Outside Diameter Two and One Quarter (2 ¼) Inch x Two and One Quarter (2 ¼) Inch. 3 Hole Perforations Each Perforation shall be Seven Sixteenth (7/16) Inch Diameter set on One (1) Inch Centers a4 Weight Approximately Two and Eight Tenths (2.8) Pounds per Foot. 5 Length Thirty (30) Inches.
