State Hospital South (SHS) and other divisions of the Department use Waystar software for insurance billing purposes. Components of the software include Medicare Claims Editor, Medicare Analytics, Eligibility, Multi-payer Eligibility and Medicare DDE (Direct Data Entry). The eligibility components are used to determine if and where a patient or client has billable insurance. It also identifies how many billable Medicare days a patient or client may have left. Identifying all payer sources up front improves coordination of benefits among insurers and helps reduce errors and denials. The editor and analytics help prevent errors in claims submissions, which reduces denials, improves staff efficiency, and allows claims to be paid faster.
