As per Public Resource Code §§ 4592.5, CAL FIRE is required to provide clear written guidance on the processes and procedures relating to Forest Practice. The Forest Practice Rule Book changes annually and requires a lengthy approval process. Approval includes review by CAL FIRE management, the Board of Forestry, and the Office of Administrative Law. Once the Forest Practice Rule Book is finalized and fully approved, the printing and the distribution of the Forest Practice Rule Book shall begin. CAL FIRE will bill the requesting public the Forest Practice Rule Book based on the production cost to CAL FIRE. The finalized Forest Practice Rule Book historically is available at the beginning of the year and the printing and distribution must be completed before March 1st.
