7.1. Current Needs The district currently has about 66 Special Education Students which includes our Preschool needs student. Preschool room has both 2 and 3 year old students and we have a 4 and 5 year old prekindergarten room. Speech: SLP comes out to test and do METs/IEPs as well as monitors the SLPA who provides the majority of the direct services. Currently, 36 students receive services ranging from 30 to 60 minutes per Week. OT: Fifteen students receive services from 60 to 120 minutes per Month. PT: Two wheelchair bound students receive 30 minutes per week for each student. 7.2. Requirements for Exceptional Student Services A. Provide qualified staff in appropriate numbers to meet the student’s special education programmatic needs. Gila Bend Unified School District #23’s Special Education Department shall have the right to review and approve staff with direct student contact. B. Comply with all state and federal laws for the provision of Special Education Services. C. Have current and valid fingerprint clearance card prior to any services being offered. D. Assist and comply with each student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP) using eIEPro , our IEP software, to include: attending multi-disciplinary team meetings, developing and implementing IEP objectives, collecting and maintaining student data as needed. Incomplete reporting will delay payment of services. E. Indicate familiarity with school referral process, state standards, and the District’s Core Curriculum. F. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings with District personnel. G. Conduct appropriate staff training to insure services can be effectively and safely implemented. H. Report evaluation results in written form. I. Maintain student records that comply with all aspects of the requirements as mandated by federal and state laws. J. Specify the ability to conduct the service in a language other than English, if any. K. Coordinate services with all providers. L. Follow the District’s instructional calendars for delivery of services for days of instruction, holidays and school vacation. M. Submit to a GBUSDmonthly, itemized invoice for all services rendered using assigned student numbers to document dates of services. Invoices must comply with all State of Arizona District rules, regulations and policies. Submit data for Medicaid in the Public Schools (MIPS) reporting requirements as applicable. N. Gila Bend Unified School District #23 requires a valid social security number and proof of fingerprints for contractors who provide services to students. In addition, contractors must provide proof of licenses and certificates required under applicable state and federal laws, regulations and policies.
