Priority 1: In collaboration with NHED BSES, develop evidence-based professional learning and resources for K-12 educators, and administrators designed for creating inclusive learning environments for all students that are accessible, rigorous, responsive, and engaging. This professional learning should integrate: (1) the cognitive neuroscience of learning and individual differences, and (2) the principles of universal design for educational technologies and multimedia. The professional learning must include, but is not limited to the following: • Understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II, in reference to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1AA o Understanding the compliance timeline o The POUR Principles that define accessible experiences (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust) o Digital learning resources accessible and usable by students with disabilities • AT supports and services o Quality Indicators for Assistive Technology (QIAT) o Students, Environment, Tasks, Tools (SETT) Framework to promote collaborative decision-making during the consideration, implementation and evaluation of effectiveness of AT services o Myths and facts surrounding AT devices and services • Accessible Educational Materials under NIMAS (National Instructional Accessible Material Standard) o Understanding the definition of AEM and accessible formats o K-12 critical components of the quality indicators for the provision of accessible educational materials (print and digital) and accessible technology o Understand the definition of “timely manner” • Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) • Inclusionary Practices (High Leveraged Practices, Universal Design for Learning) • Data informed decision making All trainings and corresponding training materials will live in the NHED BSES canvas platform, and all content created is the property of the NHED. Priority 2: Support the NHED BSES regarding the implementation of the Inclusive Learning Environments professional learning. • In collaboration with the NHED BSES, develop a Train the Trainer series to support the implementation and sustainability of the professional learning • Support the NHED BSES Education Consultant and State Coaches to work with LEAs to effectively implement the professional learning • In collaboration with the NHED BSES’s Evaluator and team, assist in the development and implementation of evaluation tools and activities • Participate in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) provided by NHED BSES for State Coaches every other month to support the implementation of the professional learning All trainings and corresponding training materials will live in the NHED BSES canvas platform, and all content created is the property of the NHED.
