This specification establishes the minimum requirements for a Type II, raised roof, Van-Type Ambulance. The ambulance will be utilized primarily for transporting sick or injured inmates to treatment centers within the secured perimeters of correctional institutions and facilities of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). The vehicle must be suitable for operation on public roadways but will not be operated as an emergency vehicle. The vehicle must be suitable for transporting inmates who require only Basic Life Support (BLS) features and must be equipped appropriately to provide BLS to inmates for the duration of transport. The vehicle and associated medical equipment must be in new, and unused condition. The supplier is responsible for providing a vehicle that meets the following minimum requirements, as well as conforms to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations in effect at the time of delivery. On its sole discretion, it is the State’s right to accept or decline any product offered as being equivalent to any reference product in this specification or prints. 3.0 TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS The ambulance shall be supplied with all equipment and accessories indicated as standard equipment in the manufacture published literature. All structural and non-structural components must meet all ANSI and ISO standards. Optional equipment necessary to meet the minimum requirements of this specification shall be included. The ambulance shall also meet the following requirements. 3.1.1 CHASSIS 3.1.1.1 The 4X2 chassis for this vehicle shall be Ford T350 Transit Van high roof, or equivalent make and model. 3.1.1.2 Under coating per OEM guidelines. 3.1.2 DIMENSION 3.1.2.1 Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) ≥9000 pounds 3.1.2.2 Total Length: 240-inches, maximum 3.1.2.3 Total Width (mirror to mirror): 98-inches, maximum 3.1.2.4 Total Height:110-inches, maximum 3.1.2.5 Cargo Height (distance from floor to ceiling in patient area): 72-inches, minimum 3.1.2.6 Wheelbase: 148-inches, maximum 3.1.3 ENGINE The vehicle shall have a gasoline-fueled engine. Engine shall be CARB certified and shall meet current emission requirements.
