Garland’s Big Hat sculpture will be a visually striking and innovative piece that embodies the spirit of Garland and its cowboy hat legacy. The site-specific sculpture will be installed in a prominent public space and should be designed to withstand outdoor conditions. Based on site constraints, City seeks an elevated sculpture to contribute to the downtown skyline. Garland’s Big Hat will serve as a memorable photo opportunity and should include illuminating elements to support nighttime entertainment activities. Designs should include elements of an appropriate size, scale, likeness and orientation to engage viewing from multiple vantage points. Size of sculpture must be substantial, at least 20’ wide – and must reflect a cowboy hat style.
