The proposed Elk River Headquarters Building is located in Clay, WV. The building is a one story, approximately 1,000 G.S.F., wood framed building with a hip roof and gable dormer. The structure will be supported by reinforced concrete footing and foundation walls in conjunction with a reinforced concrete floor slab. The design inspiration is based off rural, late 19th century / early 20th century depot, which were spotted throughout Appalachia. The structure is adjacent to a former railroad track, now the Elk River Trail paralleling the Elk River. The interior of the building will house a small office / break room area, two restrooms and retail / Point of Sales Counter along with visual displays of the trail. The floor will be all ceramic tile planks to give the illusion of wood, for low maintenance and durability. The exterior of the building is capped with a hip roof and fiberglass asphalt shingles to harkon back to the look of slate roofs, commonly found on such structures. The siding is painted, cement board lap siding and windows are aluminum clad wood windows.
