SCOPE OF WORK • The successful contractor shall provide all equipment and manpower to crush and screen existing old concrete, asphalt and porcelain stockpiles into aggregates of sufficient specifications to be used as a concrete base course (not to exceed 3”). Most material should be between 1.5” and 3”. • The material consists of varying sizes and shapes. The concrete may contain wire mesh and/or rebar. • The contractor shall remove and separate all rebar and metal. The material will be stockpiled to be recycled by the County. • Approximately 2,500 to 3,500 tons of concrete, asphalt and porcelain will be stockpiled prior to scheduling processing. The materials to be crushed are comingled. The amount of material to be reclaimed under this contract is estimated and not guaranteed. The contractor may be requested to crush more or less than the estimated quantity of materials. Material crushing will happen in a one time service. • Pricing will be based on aggregate processed by the ton. The unit price shall be all inclusive including mobilization costs. • The material to be ground includes concrete slabs, asphalt and porcelain fixtures, however, Lexington County will not assume liability for damages caused by foreign material that may be mixed in. The contractor is responsible for the separation of potentially damaging materials. The County will be responsible for disposal of any foreign material. • The Landfill Facility hours available for the crushing operation are: Monday through Friday – 7:00 am – 5:00 pm. Other hours required to process material will be considered upon written request to the Director, Solid Waste Management. • Safety requirements – The Contractor must abide by all Federal, State and County safety regulations, including the requirement for all personnel operating at the Edmund Facility to wear safety green shirts, vests, etc. at all times.
