Must be able to perform the following experiments: • BET surface area measurements • chemisorption • pulsed chemisorption • temperature-programmed oxidation • temperature-programmed reduction • temperature-programmed desorption • temperature-programmed reaction Must meet or exceed the following: • ports to accommodate six gases and minimize changing of gas cylinder • all internal parts must be compatible with, and chemically resistant to, the use of nitrogen, argon, helium, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrous oxide, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, and ammonia • electronic mass flow controllers • automated gas blending valves for providing reliable and precise gas compositions • furnace that operates to 1100 °C and covers the entire sample tube to avoid condensation
