The Illinois Tollway is seeking a vendor to furnish and deliver roadway abrasives on an as-needed basis throughout the term of the resulting contract. The Roadway Abrasives shall be washed, 5/16” Pea Gravel (except crushed limestone) that is clean, hard, angular, and free from foam, clay, and frozen lumps. The material shall be mixed uniformly, shall be well-graded from the maximum to the minimum size between the limits specified herein, and when tested with laboratory sieves of square openings (American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Designation E-11), shall conform to the gradation given below: • 3/8”: 100% passing • 1/4”: 95-100% passing • #4: 90-100% passing • #8: 0-60% passing • #16: 0-30% passing • #40: 0-8% passing; 3,500 Ton
