Duties of the contract chaplain include conducting weekly non-denominational services, faith studies, and providing general pastoral care for the incarcerated population at FMC. In fulfillment of these duties the contract chaplain will complete the following activities: • Conduct weekly Catholic worship services. • Provide religious study or education classes. • Provide general pastoral care to the incarcerated population, which may include consultation concerning religious issues, grief care, crisis pastoral counseling, funeral services, pastor visitation with individuals in specialized housing (death row, hospice care, living units, and/or visiting room, etc.), and other duties as indicated. • Attend annual Religious Service Meeting (mandatory event – $75 yearly compensation for attendance as required per contract) • Make referrals for incarcerated people to appropriate services (medical, mental health, recovery services etc.) • Distribute religious literature and/or conduct religious programs.
