This project involves full-time Resident Project Representative (RPR)/Construction Observation services for the the SE Connector Improvements Project, a federally-funded 2.2-mile-long roadway project utilizing Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) and Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG) funding that will extend the City's Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway from SE 30th Street to U.S. Highway 65 in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. The work includes the inspection and verification of contractors' work in accordance with the plans, specifications, reviewed shop drawings and materials testing requirements. The construction work will consist of the construction of a new 2-lane roadway through primarily undeveloped ground, a 1,515-foot-long bridge over Fourmile Creek, relocation and improvement of 4,000 feet of the SE Des Moines River leveee system (a U. S. Army Corps of Engineers regulated levee), storm water enhancements, as well as grading of right-of-way for future potential expansion of the roadway to four lanes. Construction is anticipated to commence approximately April 1, 2025 and be substantially complete by June 1, 2028, with closeout of the project occurring thereafter. The construction project is anticipated to be let by the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) at its January 22, 2025 letting, on behalf of the City.
