1. U.S. Grade A or U.S. Fancy is the quality of canned fruit cocktail that is practically free from defects; that possesses a good character; that possesses a normal flavor and odor; and that is of such quality with respect to clearness of liquid media, color, and uniformity of size as to score not less than 85 points when scored in accordance with the scoring system outlined in this subpart. 2. U.S. Grade B or U.S. Choice is the quality of canned fruit cocktail that possesses a fairly clear liquid media; that is reasonably uniform in size; that is reasonably free from defects; that possesses a reasonably good character; that possesses a normal flavor and odor; and that is of such quality with respect to color as to score not less than 70 points when scored in accordance with the scoring system outlined in this subpart. 3. Substandard is the quality of canned fruit cocktail that fails to meet the requirements of U.S. Grade B or U.S. Choice and the quality of canned fruit cocktail that may not meet the minimum standard of quality for canned fruit cocktail issued pursuant to the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
