Particle Size Analyzer Instrument. The particle size analyzer shall be capable of simultaneously measuring particle size and shape by means of a feed system dropping free flowing particles past highspeed cameras. The primary application for this instrument is the measurement of highway marking spheres for both size and roundness according to AASHTO M 247 materials specifications. The particle size analyzer shall also meet the following requirements: Basic Design and Control: The particle size analyzer (system) shall be a bench top designed instrument that is computer controlled via a standalone computer and software. The instrument shall operate on 100-115v power. Measurement Range and Time: The system shall accurately measure particles in a size range of 20µm - 30mm. Depending on material type and sample size measurements should be completed in less than ten minutes. Sample Size: The system shall be capable of measuring a wide range of sample weights to accommodate varying sample types (approx. 20g – 1000g). Light Source & Cameras: The system light source shall be LED to afford long and dependable life. The optical system shall be composed of two cameras with one optimized for large particle analysis and the other optimized for the small particles. Or demonstrable equal. Computer / Software: The computer shall be provided by purchaser. The PC software package shall be included with the system and be capable of managing test methods, storing sample data / results, and controlling the instrument operation. Software package should also be capable of producing individual test results for sieve analysis and sphericity. System Calibration: The system shall be capable of automatic calibration of the light source and camera / optical system and include a calibration standard. Installation and Training: Assumes one day to install and train personnel on basic function and use of the equipment and one day to observe personnel using the equipment for applications. Warranty: A minimum one-year warranty shall be provided. The warranty shall cover all parts and labor costs. Any necessary warranty service shall be performed on-site, the supplier shall assume all shipping costs.
