The Maryland Department of Health (MDH or the Department), Office of Population Health Improvement (OPHI), is issuing this Request for Applications (RFA) for community health worker (CHW) certification training programs currently accredited by the Department to enhance an existing accredited CHW certification training program OR develop a new CHW certification training program. An accredited CHW training organization that enhances an existing curriculum will offer a minimum of one (1) enhanced training, and recruit and train five (5) under-served/under-resourced CHW candidates at no cost to the student. An accredited CHW training organization that develops a new CHW training program curriculum will apply for a new accreditation, upon accreditation offer a minimum of one (1) training under the new accredited curriculum, and recruit and train two (2) under-served/ under-resourced CHW candidates at no cost to the student.
