The objective in requesting proposals is to acquire the services of a reputable and proven Supplier with a demonstrated ability to provide international travelers insurance in an efficient and professional manner. The insurance premiums and/or fees may be paid by the respective University and may be required coverage for students participating in Study Abroad programs, other programs requiring travel to any area other than the Continental United States, Alaska, Hawaii, the Commonwealths of Puerto Rico, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands and the territories and possessions of the United States, and to the faculty and staff (with or without accompanying students) in the scope of their employment. Insurance for dependents of University participants must be available for purchase as well. In seeking these services, the Universities will consider suppliers of sufficient staffing and substantial reputation that can offer expert advice and excellence in service regarding applicable insurance and risk management programs. Suppliers located and/or licensed in Iowa will be given preference, but suppliers on a national or international basis who could add substantial value will be considered. Suppliers should be able to focus on the present needs and ensure program continuity and consideration in meeting future insurance needs. Desired services will be divided into four distinct components: International Health Insurance for Study Abroad students and University travelers when traveling internationally Emergency Assistance, Evacuation, and Repatriation for purposes related but not limited to medical, security, natural disaster, terrorist attack, or other related or non-related political unrest Additional Travel Services Optional Services via buy-up opportunities for base proposal
