The Maternal and Child Health Branch (MCHB) within the Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH), Family Health Services Division, bolsters the public health infrastructure to address and improve the healthcare system for all Hawaii residents. It is the goal and mission of the MCHB to provide leadership to assure healthy outcomes for the women, children, and families of Hawaii. It is our mission to meet the challenging needs of the communities, support the empowerment of individuals to lead healthy lifestyles, and work towards a future that emphasizes effective health strategies to maintain generations of healthy living. The DOH, MCHB is pleased to announce a solicitation for support of an agency or organization to provide reproductive care support and counseling to the homeless communities, uninsured / underinsured pregnant, postpartum, and birthing population of Oahu. The homeless population usually living in shelters or tents have limited access to prenatal education, care enabling services, health care, and behavioral health care. The lack and/or limited access to basic health care and services contribute to health disparities and play an essential role in poor perinatal and infant health outcomes such as high rates of preterm birth, low birthrate babies, fetal and maternal deaths.
