The Town of Bedford, hereinafter referred to as the Owner, is seeking bids from professional Turf Maintenance contractors for providing fertilization for selected Town fields/grassed areas as well as weed prevention on islands. The Owner has historically included a program of 4 applications with the following concentrations: 28-0-12 (35% slow release) spring and fall; 21-3-21 (75% slow release) early and late summer. The minimum amount of nitrogen per growing season will be no less than 3 pounds of nitrogen per 1,000 square feet of turf. Actual concentrations and percentages may vary based on actual field conditions and requirements; however, these concentrations and applications shall be the minimum accepted and used for comparison of bids. In addition to fertilization, the Owner is requesting 1 treatment of preventative grub control and may request miscellaneous turf maintenance such as field aeration, de-thatching, broad band tick treatment or additional weed control as needed by actual field condition. All applicators shall be properly licensed and experienced. The contractor shall contact the Parks and Fields Foreman at (603) 854-3093 or bhatfield@bedfordnh.org 48 hours prior to any application. The contractor will have to work in conjunction with the contractor who provides lawn mowing services to the fields. No applications will be put down the same day as it is to be scheduled to be mowed. Pre-notifications and posting will be performed in accordance with applicable regulations and manufactures label. Applications shall be made by proper equipment and speeds so as not to damage the turf. Re-treatment to areas not responding properly to a regularly scheduled application shall be done in a timely manner and at no charge to the Owner. All products shall be used in accordance with the manufactures label.
