The purpose of this firebreak contract is to refresh firebreaks in preparation for burn season of existing firebreaks at Cheraw State Park in Chesterfield County, SC. The mileage quantity and locations will be provided to the winning vendor prior to mobilization each contract year. A new map depicting the firebreaks to be refreshed will be provided to the winning contractor each contract year. Specifications - Clear all firebreaks with a blade, to reduce as much as possible the amount of pine straw in the firebreaks. Bladed breaks along roadways should be installed to one side of the road to allow vehicle navigation. Breaks where this is necessary will be identified for the vendor prior to mobilization each contract year. Attend a site visit with our partner, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) prior to beginning work on a designated day within the first two weeks of December during each contract year. The listed firebreak mileage is an approximation based on GIS data. Interested bidders are encouraged to make their own mileage determinations each year.
