The MARTA Office of Transit Oriented Development (TOD) is seeking a Contractor to make affordable, fresh produce more accessible in areas where food insecurities exist. This initiative will create marketing and distribution opportunities for local small and medium-sized farmers to sell their produce at MARTA Fresh Produce Market Kiosk stands. The aim of this market is to reduce food insecurity in underserved communities and promote healthy living. 1. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS a. Contractor shall provide and run a fresh produce market at MARTA Market Kiosk stands should be operational at least one day per week at the following MARTA Stations: Bankhead, West End, Five Points, H. E. Holmes, Kensington, College Park, and Doraville. b. The Contractor must provide all necessary commodities, services, managerial, administrative, overhead, and direct labor personnel to fulfill the Contract. Contractor employees should only be on-site for contractual duties and not for any other purposes. c. Contractor shall promote the MARTA Fresh Produce Markets using social media, local advertising, and community events. d. Contractor shall recruit staff members to operate the market and provide the necessary training needed to operate the MARTA Fresh Produce Market according to city, county, state, and Federal permits, laws, and regulations. e. Contractor shall comply with all requirements set forth by the Atlanta, Fulton, DeKalb County, the Department of Health, Georgia Department of Agriculture, and obtain any and all permits and licenses required by local and state law, including, but not limited to a business license. f. MARTA reserves the right to request additional information from the Contractor during the term, including, but not limited to, information on supplies and suppliers. g. Contractor shall identify Market funds as an independent project to distinguish costs and expenses of the project versus other programs/business lines. h. Inventory and Pricing – Contractor may sell fruits, vegetables, legumes, and other fresh produce but may not sell any alcohol or tobacco-related products or any products used for smoking or vaping. Pricing shall be competitive and set at local market rates. MARTA has the right to approve or reject all items for sale at its sole discretion, and Contractor shall immediately remove those items from sale that MARTA has rejected. i. Equipment and Materials – Obtaining all equipment including tables, banners, risers, credit card readers, cash registers, and other equipment used to provide the services shall be the sole responsibility of the Contractor. All property, equipment, and installation shall be subject to approval by MARTA. i. Fresh produce tables will be located against the existing walls and secured to a wall or floor (if necessary) to prevent vandalism and shall be located and secured as directed by MARTA. The Contractor must obtain MARTA’s prior written permission before affixing any equipment or asset to MARTA’s property. ii. Contractor, at its sole cost and expense, will furnish all materials and labor required for the sale of fresh produce. iii. Contractor will maintain control over cash and credit card processing and ensure all transaction procedures are properly followed during all hours of operation.
