Ellucian’s Smart Plan and Award products are designed to work as add-ons to Degree Works, an Ellucian product that UVU has owned and used as a part of the overall Ellucian Banner subscription since 2007. Smart Plan and Award are enhancements to Ellucian's Degree Audit and Planning product portfolio, which is comprised of Degree Works, Smart Plan and Award. Smart Plan and Award cannot be implemented independently of Degree Works. They do not function without Degree Works which contains all the approved curriculum and audits. Smart Plan and Award utilize that information to deliver additional student, advising, and administrative tools performing the functions described above. Smart Plan and Award are proprietary products sold by Ellucian that integrate with Degree Works. These products and integrations are exclusive to Ellucian and cannot be provided by other vendors. Only Smart Plan automatically creates personalized, optimal education plans all the way to graduation for each student based on the actual degree requirements as stated in the degree audit system (Degree Works). Only Smart Plan automatically recalculates and revises the student’s entire education plan and class schedule as conditions change in course offerings, declared degrees, or in the student’s status. Only Smart Plan warns the students of the negative time and cost consequences (e.g., delaying graduation) when they set a problematic planning constraint. Additionally, Smart Plan recommends beneficial alternatives or minor adjustments. Only Award automatically identifies for each and every student, all degrees and credentials, declared or not, across multiple catalog years, where the student has successfully completed all the requirements as defined in the degree audit system.
