The Hawaii State Department of Education (Department), Office of Strategy, Innovation and Performance (OSIP), Community Engagement Branch (CEB), requests community input to facilitate the Department’s planning activities and development of a Request for Proposals (RFP) for summer after-school care for identified elementary school children, commonly referred to as the After-School Plus (A+) Program. The information received will assist the Department in preparing the release of one or more RFP in the immediate future. The Department is seeking Providers to provide summer after-school care for latchkey children who have completed kindergarten through completion of grade four (4) or five (5) for public elementary schools hosting a summer school program, statewide. Summer A+ services will be provided on summer school days beginning after the summer school program ends at 12:00 noon until 5:30 p.m. Summer A+ services will provide enrichment activities and may provide or sell, with appropriate supervision, snacks or meals that meet the requirements set forth by the STATE Wellness Guidelines.
