1. The Project Area consists of one area containing 36 woody biomass piles. 2. The goal for the Project Area is to remove all woody biomass piles from the project area. 3. Weekend work shall be limited to the extent possible in order to avoid conflict with WMA users. 4. A powerline is present along the west and north sides of the project area. 5. Specifications for the Project Area are as follows: • Contractor is responsible for removing all woody biomass materials that were previously cut and piled on the site. • Heavy equipment traffic is limited to haul roads designated by the Project Supervisor. • No burning of materials on site is allowed. • No burying of materials on site is allowed. State law prohibits burying of this material on state land. • A chipper or tub grinder may be used for this project so long as the chips are removed from the site. Wood chip can NOT be distributed or left on-site. Any areas with substantial quantity of chips left on the ground will be required to be raked, with the chips disposed of off-site. • All woody biomass materials must be legally disposed of off-site. • No additional compensation beyond the contract award will be provided for off-site disposition materials. • Contractor is responsible for smoothing to existing grade any large holes or ruts they create in the immediate area around the piled woody biomass. Rutting and other major disturbance outside of piles of woody biomass shall be avoided. • The site shall be left in a condition ready for vehicular travel and seeding following completion of the project. • The desired final product is a smooth and level surface without significant woody debris. Equipment capable of disking and/or grading may be required to achieve this result. • Extreme care must be given to avoid damage to underlying prairie grasses and forbs outside of the project area. • All wheeled/track equipment may only be used on frozen ground or ground dry enough, so vehicles and other equipment do not leave ruts. Ruts 4” or deeper are considered excessive. • The Project Supervisor reserves the right to suspend work if rutting or severe substrate damage is occurring during work operations.
