2. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 2.2 Powered Air Purifying Respirators and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus 2.2.1 The quote shall be complete SCBAs and complete PAPRs. A modular solution that combines or shares components between the PAPRs and SCBAs is acceptable and may add value depending on the ease of use of switching between these systems. For example, a single system that provides both PAPR and SCBA functionality with only one mask compatible with both systems, is acceptable. 2.2.2 Each system shall include a mask, back frame, pressure gauge, and any hoses, batteries, or additional accessories required for the operation of the system. 2.2.3 A distress alarm, such as a personal alert safety system (PASS) device, is not required, but if they are provided, the ability to silence any alarms is not required, but may add value. 2.2.4 SCBAs and PAPRs must be compatible with the following Bomb Suits when equipped with a breathing apparatus visor: Med-Eng EOD 9, Med-Eng EOD 10, and NP Aerospace 4030. 2.2.5 At least one set of filters for each PAPR shall be compliant with the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) rating. 2.2.6 All SCBAs must have a NIOSH CBRN Rating. 2.2.7 Each SCBA must include an approximately10 foot long CBRN rated hose. This hose must be able to accept air from a Schrader quick-connect ¼ inch fitting on the Sheriff's "Bomb Cat" (A Lenco Armored Vehicle). This air is pressurized to a maximum of 125 Pound per Square Inch (PSI). 2.2.8 Each SCBA must include at least one 60-minute air tank. Inclusion of additional air tanks in various sizes may add value. 2.2.9 Inclusion of voice amplification units or communications integration is optional but desirable. 2.2.10 Sizes for masks and other items will be determined at the time of procurement.
