A. Ground Cover and Shrubbery Trimming and edging of all ground cover and shrubbery as needed to maintain a uniform appearance and to encourage the natural shape of all plant material. Fertilizing consisting of two (2) applications of balanced slowrelease fertilization per year, depending on the plant material and seasonal conditions. Dead or dying plants will be brought to the attention of the CAL FIRE Contract Manager immediately along with a proposal to replace. B. Weed Control Bedding areas shall be maintained reasonably free of weeds as needed. This may include the use of herbicides, using best management practices to reduce herbicide use based on site conditions. Weeds in adjacent hardscapes areas shall be treated during the regular service. C. Tree Care Trees up to 12 feet (12’) in height shall be pruned to promote the natural shape of the tree and maintain healthy growth. Trees shall be fertilized on an as needed basis. Trees 12’ in height and above are not covered in this agreement however they shall be assessed by Contractor’s International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist once a year to identify any high-risk situations. Recommendations shall be brought to the CAL FIRE Contract Manager’s attention along with a detailed proposal to mediate the risk. D. Irrigation System Automatic controllers shall be scheduled appropriately with seasonal requirements. The irrigation system shall be inspected monthly for proper function. Controllers shall be set to water at night or early morning. Irrigation system shall be inspected routinely and any issues with the system shall be brought to the attention of the CAL FIRE Contract Manager. No Repairs shall be covered in this agreement. E. Pest Control Minor pest infestations, which are treatable by the on-site crew, shall be controlled using foliar insecticides. Gopher and mole control shall be included in the regular service. Large pest infestations shall be handled on an individual basis and billed separately.
