1. Demolition: a. General Construction: 1) Sitework: None b. Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing: Minor modifications of existing piping, associated mechanical work, and miscellaneous associated general construction items related to the removal of an air-cooled refrigerant condenser unit from a support structure. Existing general plant site operations are to remain operational during construction with exception of the refrigerant condenser unit and scheduled shutdowns. 1) Removal of electrical connections by LES Representatives. 2) Disconnection of associated refrigerant piping, drains, refrigerant fogging components, makeup water and basin overflow piping to the extent required for installation of new replacement unit. 3) Removal of existing IMECO evaporative refrigerant condenser unit in its entirety from an existing elevated structural support. Structural support to remain and be reused. 4) And other Work indicated in the Contract Documents. 2. New Construction: a. General Construction: 1) Sitework and General Construction: Setting and placing new OwnerFurnished air-cooled refrigerant condenser on existing structural steel support. Anchoring new equipment to structure by bolted fasteners per manufacturer’s requirements and recommendations. Restoration of damaged site surfaces surrounding the equipment structure damage during construction activities to preconstruction activities to match existing grounds area. 2) Mechanical: Furnishing and installing new plumbing and refrigerant (ammonia) pipe and pipe fittings, piping specialties, and valves, , and associated pipe supports. Installation of Owner-Furnished-Equipment (OFE) consisting of air-cooled refrigerant condenser on existing support structure. All new miscellaneous structural support steel shall be galvanized. OFE will be delivered to the site where the installing contractor will be required to place equipment in final setting similar to existing condenser unit removed. Note - All rigging shall be performed by certified riggers. a) Pipe Painting: Mechanical piping systems constructed of bare carbon steel piping and pipe fittings shall be painted to match existing color scheme of pipe system. Coordinate with Owner’s Representative. b) Pipe Labeling: Pipe labeling is limited to the first five (5) feet from connection to equipment. Label flow direction and service; coordinate description and direction of flow with Owner’s Representative. 3) Plumbing: Minor general plumbing work. a) All plumbing water and waste drain piping shall be Schedule 40 galvanized coated pipe and pipe fittings. b) Schedule 40 PVC piping and pipe fittings may be used where existing waste drainage or makeup water piping is constructed of PVC pipe materials. 4) All new electrical power and control wiring, and raceways work will be performed by Others. The installation contractor of the condenser unit shall coordinate all field pipe routing with the Owner’s Representative so as not to limit access to maintenance and areas requiring access. 3. And other work as required by the Contract Documents. 4. Existing Utilities: a. Locate existing site utilities both above and below existing site grade and/or protect those which must remain in-service. b. High voltage power systems exist adjacent to the proposed fluid cooler unit installation location. Locate all above and belowground utilities so as not to delay construction activities or interrupt plant operations. Coordinate construction activities with Owner’s Representative. Report any issues upon discovery.
