Erect safety/sight barricades and lay protective floor covering around work areas. • Suspend and secure (two methods) the elevator car at the top of the hoistway. • Disconnect and remove the existing piston from the jack casing. The piston will be taken apart and removed for proper disposal off-site. • Drain all fluids from the jack casing, placed into drums, and remove for proper disposal off-site. • Remove the jack. • Remove any hazardous debris from inside of primary ground casing and store in approved containers for proper disposal off-site. • The Contractor will be solely responsible for proper disposal of all materials removed from the work site. • Clean the primary ground casing hole and check for plumb. • Install new jack assembly into the existing PVC (polyvinyl chloride) liner. Thread and weld cylinder sections together. Allow cooling and protective wrap at joints
